“ABC” Company was in the final stages of its existence as a private company and was preparing to go public. The company required rationalization of the further development of its patent portfolio in view of its limited budget. After reviewing its past and current patent practices, we advised the company to pursue a single patent application which would be comprehensive and cover all aspects of its new product offerings and multiple inventions. To increase the appeal of the company to investors, prior to the initial public offering, we filed additional patent applications based on that single application thereby increasing the company’s patent portfolio by more than three hundred percent - from three patent applications to ten.
